Starting Sparks: December

Happy Advent!

In my last post I spoke about my aversion to Christmas before December, but now it IS December, the tinsel is up* and the Christmas tunes are on!

*Metaphorically. There is no tinsel in my home. At least, not yet!

I am currently at that post-November stage with school/winter/life, the stage of if you don't laugh, you'll cry", so today I wore my hair in bunches to school and laughed hysterically at a lot of things. It is in the only way to keep going. There are three weeks left of term and I'm going to drag myself through them somehow.

So, as it is the 1st, it is time for Starting Sparks!

Last month we had the first linker who wasn't Ashley or me, so I have great hopes for the future!

The December prompt is this:

Whether you've got a tonne of experience or none at all, we would love to have you on board. Short story, scene, poem, whatever: we're just looking to get your creativity going. If you'd like more information about the link-up, have a look here

And again, happy Advent!

  1. I'm so glad I entered last month - I had so much fun! I hope lots more will link up in the future. :)

Let's just say I already have a good idea for where I'm going to take this prompt...hehehe!

Good luck on your visit to Oxford, Emily!

    1. Thanks, Lauren! :) And looking forward to your take on this prompt!

Thank you! I'm there right now!

  2. Yes! We had a linker. Eep! You have no idea how excited I was about that.

    1. It was a lot of fun joining in, you guys! I'm looking forward to the next one. :)

    2. Thank you! It was exciting!

  3. Omg one of these days I WILL JOIN IN I SWEAR. *adds to to-do list*

I don't know why but my stupid blogroll hasn't alerted me that you've been posting (to be honest, I thought you quit blogging.) BUT NOW I have unfollowed and then refollowed and added you to my blog roll manually, and it seems to have taken care of the problem.

BUT HAI. It's been a great age.

I don't write, or I would totally join in with the prompt. (As it is, all I can think of is John yelling at Sherlock, and it amuses me.)

Incidentally, yes! I also have a great aversion to people decorating for Christmas before December. (But I live in the states and we celebrate Thanksgiving at the end of November, so I'm of the opinion that we should celebrate 1 freaking holiday at a time, thank you very much.) Still, I get all excited for Christmas early, and it's hard for me to wait, but it makes it soooo much more rewarding to wait. XD

Anyway, I AM SORRY I was ignoring you. (Not my intent.)

    How's life, girl?

What! Me! Quit! Never! I'm glad you've sorted it! :)

HahahhahHAHAHA I love that take on it! THAT WOULD BE EXACTLY IT! "It's an eyeball!" "It's SCIENCE!"

It definitely does make it more rewarding. If you use up your excitement before December, it's harder to enjoy the time after Christmas Day. Whereas I love the twelve days of Christmas <3

Life is good, I'm in Oxford right now as I have had some interviews for English Lit (scary scary!). It's such an amazing city <3

  5. LOL, I love that line of dialogue! I just may have to join in... :)

    1. Me too! We'd love to have you! :)

  6. I was going to write an intelligent comment about something or another, then I read Treskie and your comment about the prompt being from Sherlock and now I'm too busy focusing on not waking everyone up with my laugher to worry about my previous intelligent comment.

  7. I keep seeing these every month, and I keep thinking that I NEED to join up! Maybe this month I will (but let's be real...there's a 50/50 chance, haha).

    Great prompt though!

    1. Oh, please do! I know, though, it's hard to find the time!

      Right?! Ashley chose it! :)

Thanks for commenting! :)
