Good day.
The very lovely Ely from what can I say? has tagged me for the One Lovely Blog Award!
I used to hate receiving blog awards -- well, not hate, but I had too many and posted them too often. But of late, I've actually been hankering after them -- I think we have, as a blogging community, largely "grown out" of awards, so it's nice to get one now and again. Thank you, Ely!
You should definitely check out her blog, by the way. It is very beautiful.
The Rules
1. Thank whoever nominated you.
2. List rules and display award.
3. Give seven facts.
4. Nominate 15 other bloggers and notify them.
5. Display award logo and follow the blogger who nominated you.

1, 2 and 5 are check check check. Now for number 2 ... I am going to intersperse these with recent Pinterest loves because why the heck not?
1. I really, really, really love car drives. To the extent where I'm disappointed when we reach our destination. For me it is nearly heaven to sit in the back of the car with my iPod in, leaning my head against the window and watching the world -- preferably the night or the hills -- go by.

3. Christianity -- Christ -- is the most important thing in my life. Every day I'm more and more amazed that Jesus truly died for me, rose again and is even now waiting to return as the world's Judge and take his own to him. And I think that has massive implications for every person on this planet.
4. My most recent musical loves are Passenger, Sufjan Stevens, The Strokes and Maximo Park.

[source] Fjords of Scandinavia. |

[Pablo Neruda] |
6. I have dreadlock ambitions. When I leave home, I intend to make good my freedom and dread like there's no tomorrow.
I also want to get a tattoo, but I am as yet unsure what and where.
[source] This be what I'm going to look like. |
[source] I mean, no, I'd never get a sleeve -- it'd be too much -- but I love them. |

7. I am never ever ever going to stop to writing because I would have no idea how. There are a thousand worlds inside my head bursting to be released and if I don't take them from their half-formed ghostly state and breathe life into them and pour them out as ink, I will go mad.

Thanks one last time to Ely! Now tell me: how do you feel about these very visual, sort-of-life-update posts? Would you like more of them? Tell me all. And give me one fact about yourself, that I definitely won't know already.
Emily x
Oh I love your facts! I also love car rides and swimming in lakes and DREAD LOCKS! Seriously I love them, although I'm not sure I will ever have them. You must show pictures if you ever do! As for your questions: YES I love the life updates. I really like how you included the pictures with this post, too. They are all so artistic. And one fact about me... hmmm... I live in Idaho and I love cream soda! (Okay that was two...)
ReplyDelete:P Thanks for the tag, Emily!
I will definitely show pictures! I have been unsure about getting them but frankly, IT'S HAIR, WHO CARES? If I hate them I can cut them off and it will grow back!
DeleteI'm glad you enjoyed them (wish I could take credit for the artistic-ness!). I don't really know where Idaho is ... my entire knowledge of Idaho is that some (hilarious) people like to say "way to go, Idaho!" So, uh, yeah. I have a mental picture of rodeos and hot summers and cowboy hats .... ?
You're welcome :)
Congrats on the award and thanks for the nomination! I've done this one in the past, but I'll put together another list of facts about myself.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! Great, I'll be along :)
DeleteCheck out my seven facts here:

Ooh thanks Ems!
ReplyDeleteAnd the pictures are (as the kids say these days) on fleek.
I love your pinterest account. Although I prefer to use we heart it for emotional destressing and pinterest for motivation creativity.
I will definitely do this award! Thanks! It has been a while. I dreaded that awful Liebster award. It was like the plague. Now I'm a bit nostalgic about it.
I find out a lot about a person through these fact posts. Like I had no idea you were religious.
I'm trying to think of something you don't know about me.... Hmmm... Oh I dunno. :L
Ask me a question and I'll answer it ^_^
And oh my god yes to dreadlocks, tattoos and all things quirky! ^_^
DeleteEschew the norm!!!
You're welcome!
DeleteThat made me laugh out loud. I am always on fleek.
Thank you that makes me so happy!! :') I should use it for motivation creativity, but, uh ... I don't. I use it to waste time. *hem hem*
I know, right?! I used to not like them but now I miss those innocent young-Blogger days ...
Facts can be highly informative. GEE WELL YOU'VE CLEARLY NEVER READ MY BIO THEN-- hehe I joke. But yes. I am a Christian. I wouldn't call myself "religious" because I think it has quite negative connotations, but, uh, yeah ... refer to fact #3.
OK, do you have any siblings? How old are they? What's your relationship with them?
I WILL ESCHEW THE NORM! (Family aren't on board with the idea but WHO CARES!)
Pinterest definitely does an excellent job at time wasting :L
DeleteYeah I miss my old innocent blog where I posted the most stupid stuff but it was still great (well in my head anyway, to others it was probably very pathetic)
XD heheh I love your Bio. (yus I just read it there) very catchy ^_^
Quick question is there like a deeper term in Christianity? Like I am Catholic which is part of Christianity. Well I was I guess. I don't believe in any God or afterlife. But I'm not atheist. I'm me and I know what I believe whether or not anyone else believes the same as me.
Yes. I have one sister. She is 14 this weekend. We have a love/hate relationship. She's very clingy and dependent on me which really annoys me and so we end up fighting a lot. But she has grown up a lot in the last few months. Which is good but also bad because now she can argue logically with me :/
EXACTLY!!
Nooo I loved that blog! Inkdropperr .... you posted good recipes, that's for sure.
DeleteThanks :L
Wait, what do you mean by "a deeper term"? Sorry! (I'm a Protestant, I don't think that's what you're asking though ... ?)
Huh. Happy birthday, Marian's sister! (There, that was something I didn't know about you!)
I love drives. Especially long drives by my lonesome with loud musical and it's dark outside so I'm practically the only one out on the road shadowed by trees and lit by the moon. Ah. Those nights.
ReplyDeleteThat C. S. Lewis quote, it's one of my favorites. I'm all in favor of logical debates. But you can rationalize anything away if you want. But that feeling of not-belong-here, you can't take that away. It's always haunting you until you've realized why it's there.
So I had to google eschew. I love that word! (By of way, google has the worst in-sentence examples for words.)
I love the feel of that song. *makes self stop thinking to actually listen to the words* Okay, I love it even more now!
That last quote though. Mm.
Thanks for the tag!
Also, WRITING IS LIFE! HOW DOES ONE NOT WRITE!? People do things in high school like play an instrument in band and later in life they tell people, "I was a band geek." But they don't play anymore? Just what?! If you loved it that much, why aren't you still a "band geek"?
DeleteWriting is a way of life. It's not something that goes away when you get older. You don't grow out of it. Actually when you get older, I have the strong suspicion that it gets "worse." The need to write is more necessary, or you really do go crazy from. . . well, not writing.
So I totally feel you on that last point. ;)
Loud musical? Yeah, I like that too ... ;)
DeleteAbsolutely. However deep you suppress the truth, it still runs inside your veins and your lungs. People can't deny the longing for something more than this world can offer.
It's a great word. (I googled it too, to see the example. ESCHEW VIOLENCE!)
I knooooow! I love Passenger so much <3 <3 <3 you should listen to all of his music just sayin' ...
Right? Charles Bukowski? Charles BAEkowski.
You're welcome!
PRECISELY! I am never going to tell people "I used to write". And nor, I hope, that "I used to draw". That one will take more work to keep going, though ...
Congrats on your award!! You definitely are one lovely blogger ;) I love car drives too unless I'm driving because then I can't look around. The world definitely is beautiful, Isle of Skye looks gorgeous. Yay I'm glad you've decided never to stop writing. :)
ReplyDeleteRachel @ A Perfection Called Books
Thank you! :) I am yet to drive (I'm only sixteen and British so I can't learn till seventeen) but I feel it'd be less relaxing ...
DeleteSkye is beautiful.
Me too! :D
Thanks for stopping by :)
Thanks so much for nominating me! All of your facts were so interesting (and the pinterest things so pretty).
ReplyDeleteYou are so brave for wanting dreadlocks. I would be way to scared to do anything wild with my hair, haha. I hope you get a chance to do it one day!
You're welcome! Thanks, I'm glad you liked them (I'm always worried that NO ONE WILL CARE.)
DeleteHaha, I've kinda come to the conclusion that I just don't care because nothing can go that wrong with your hair! I mean, if you dye or cut (or dread) it a certain way and you hate it, you can just get it short/dye it back/whatever. So if I don't like them I'll just cut them off and it'll grow back!
I LOVE CAR RIDES TOO, but with a book and food and a drink, not an iPod, then BLISS. It's actually one of my favourite places to read, especially if I get the best seat (the back) on long journeys :)
ReplyDeleteWILD SWIMMING, what, no, I used to paddle a bit, and swim in the sea when i was younger but no thank you. I prefer skimming stones in lochs/lakes now. #old
Dreadlocks and a tattoo...EMILY'S GETTING WILD.
P.S thanks for asserting your dedication to being my pinterest stalker on my blog, much appreciated. ;)
Ooh yes I do love reading in the car (with food, of course) ... I do always do the stupid thing of starting to feel a little queasy -- like, I'd be fine if I just stopped reading and looked out the window for a bit, and then I could start reading again -- but then pushing the boundary and just reading for a little too long -- "Oh, I'll just finish this chapter!" -- and making myself feel sick ....
DeleteYES! ALWAYS! Pahahah I LAUGH AT YOUR ELDERLY WAYS!
I know right. Batten down the hatches .... I'll be out painting the town red ...
PS You are welcome, I am of course your dedicated Pinning servant. (Gonna go and stalk you right now actually, because I'm avoiding looking on uni websites and making life decisions ..... you're welcome.)
Oh my goodness yes I love long car rides. A great playlist, beautiful scenery and 2-3 hours of uninterrupted bliss...
ReplyDeleteAnd dreadlocks! I'm not sure if I would manage to get them because I like my hair to stay the same (I am not a very adventerous person) but you should so go for it!
2-3 hours is the absolute perfect length, agreed!
DeleteI've had the same hair (long and straight, completely natural) literally my whole life, apart from getting it short once when I was like 11, and I would like a change ... I'm sure I'll have it the way I have it now again AFTER my dreads, because it grows like a weed!
dude, all these pictures are so beautiful and artsy. I applaud your Pinterest skillz. *slow awed clap*
ReplyDeleteI'm the same with driving. Ever since I got my liscence, I've fallen in love with just driving anywhere and everywhere I can, usually jamming out to my music or sometimes I just drive and contemplate life. I love it so much. :)
Love this post, and I'm glad you enjoyed the nomination! :D
Hmmm. I don't know if sitting scrolling for hours and clicking my mouse is a skill, but thanks! XD
DeleteI'm really excited to learn to drive!
Thanks, I did! AND THANKS FOR THE FOLLOW, FOR YOU ARE THE 100TH! ~capers~
1 and 3: SAAAAAME!! XD lol this is a great post, I feel like I've learned so much about you. ;D Thanks for tagging me! I shall schedule it posthaste! ^.^
ReplyDeleteYay! Thank you, I'm glad ;)
DeleteYou're welcome. Posthaste is an excellent word! Kinda like forthwith. Which I always want to say out loud if I write it. Forthwith.
Thank you for the nomination! I'm working on my post now :)
ReplyDeleteI am a Christian as well, and I absolutely love that C.S. Lewis quote.
AND I'M LISTENING TO PASSENGER RIGHT NOW! :D :D :D I love that guy! Such good music <3
What kind of tattoo would you want to get?
You're welcome! :)
DeleteIt's such a good quote. CS Lewis. What a guy.
SAME! I'm listening to Divers & Submarines (album). His albums are all perfect! <3
Probably a cross or like some numbers denoting a particular verse, but I don't know ..... I'm going to give myself a temporary Harry Potter one XD
Belated thank you!! I guess I won't be able to officially accept the award, but dang it feels good to be nominated by you :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm not sure if I have ever told you this (if I have, then it bears repeating), but the images you plaster your blog with (and indeed your blog itself) are pure gorgeousness. I just love scrolling through your posts and taking in those big beautiful pictures. And it helps that your words are so thoughtful too. I really need to remind myself more often to appreciate life and the stunningness of the world, like you do. We are really pretty lucky <3
You're welcome! Of course awards aren't for everyone's blogs though :)
DeleteAah, thank you so much Aylee! That is a lovely thing to say. Thank you very very much. <3
